How to calculate the number of solar panels for the house

HOW TO CALCULATE THE NUMBER OF SOLAR PANEls

Freedom to live in one’s own home is also seen as energy independence. This is also why many people are looking to reduce their energy costs.

HOW TO SWITCH TO AUTONOMOUS MODE

Although solar panels can provide heat to the house, they are not yet widely used. This is because the properties of the home are still not ideal for their insulation.

An example of an average calculation for the average strip:

A 100 square foot cottage with walls and floor insulation consumes 11.5 MWof energy each year. Solar panels provide the same amount, but the temperature difference makes the system less useful during the winter months.

One more link that can be added to the scheme is the green rate. This is a mechanism that will allow you to reduce your energy costs by selling surplus.

By purchasing solar panels, you will save a lot on the hot water bill. If you have a swimming pool, the savings are even greater. The most advantageous part of solar panels is that they can be integrated with the main electrical system.

HOW MANY PANELS WILL BE NEEDED

You can install solar panels for up to 30 kW and sell the excess energy at a green tariff.

The calculation will involve fixing the panels on the roof, and areas should not be shaded by nearby buildings or trees.

Having calculated the free area of solar panels for the house, it must be converted into the number of panels.

Divide the result by 2 (1.96×0.99=1.94 m2 or ~ 2 for panels with increased area).

By 1.6 (1.64×0.99=1.62 or ~ 1.6 for standard modules).

Before you start, find out the number of cells needed to generate energy, as well as the area on which the solar panels will be installed. This will help you get the final power.

Example:

The free roof area is 120 m2. 330W solar panels with 1.6 m2 of each panel are selected for installation.

Let’s count the number of panels 120 m2 : 1,6 m2 = 75 pcs.

The power of the plant will be 75 x 330 W = 24,75 kW.

HOW MUCH IS IT PROFITABLE

A 15 kW station can make a profit of up to $2,200 if the facility consumes 250 kW per month. The return on investment is 5% and the profitability remains the same.

Tasks for solar panels

In the event of a power outage, solar panels can operate as a backup power source. For this purpose, a moderate capacity of 3-5 kW is sufficient.

If the plan is to use the station on a long-term basis, then it is necessary to build a system with storage batteries.

To calculate, take the readings and turn on all the electrical appliances for a certain amount of time. The resulting figure should then be converted to one hour.

The average consumption per day is computed from the receipts. For the year, divide the amount by 365 days and multiply by 1.2.

The first step is choosing the right batteries. In order to provide 10 kW, you need to buy 8 cells. If you decide to use lithium-ion batteries, you will need 4 units.

Stand-alone solar panels can cost up to $25,000. In combination mode, which is the most advantageous option, will allow to use the maximum amount of electricity at the green tariff.

The development of alternative energy sources is expected to become more prevalent in the near future.
